New Moon DVD and Blu-Ray Official Release Date!

According to the Official Summit Entertainment Twilight Twitter page — the 2-disc Special Edition DVD and the Special Edition Blu-Ray will be released on Saturday, March 20th, 2010!
Who’s pumped? It will be March 20th before you know it!
UPDATE: We regret to inform you that there will be no commentary from New Moon stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, or Taylor Lautner on this 2-disc DVD and Blu-Ray edition of New Moon. According to  MTV.com the commentary was done by Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert. I know I can speak for all of us — very disappointing. The Twilight commentary with Rob, Kristen, and Catherine MADE that DVD. It was priceless and full of timeless quotes. “Come on guyssss .. Lets be simple about thisssss”
Here are the features -

Along with the fantastic film, fans can expect a six-part, behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling the creation of the film, rehearsal footage from Muse, three music videos from Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina and Mute Math, as well as audio commentary by director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert. But where, oh where, is the commentary track with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner that Chris promised back in the day?
Perhaps that, along with the 20 minutes of deleted scenes, are among the “And more!” that the Summit press release touts. Count Hollywood Crush among the sorely disappointed if RPattz’s self-depricating humor isn’t included on the disc.
The DVD will retail for $32.99 and the Blu-Ray for $34.99. Both will go on pre-sale January 26.

Whether or not those date are official, unfortunately I am unable to confirm that at this time. IMDB is very credible. However, they are not perfect and have been wrong before. There are quite a few countries missing from that list, so I would be wary until we hear something official from Summit.

MTV interview with Kristen Stewart

MTV.com has a new interview with Eclipse star Kristen Stewart (aka Bella Swan). In the interview Kristen says that they only barely touched base on the Edward/Bella/Jacob love triangle in New Moon. However, in Eclipse it plays a much bigger role -

“I’ve always backed [Bella] up in her ultimate devotion to Edward, and to see that falter will be interesting,” Stewart says

June may seem so far away now. But remember how far away November seemed? And now most of us have seen New Moon already. June is just around the corner 

MTV interview with Taylor Lautner

MTV.com has a new interview with Eclipse star Taylor Lautner (aka Jacob Black).
He tells MTV what he is most excited about when it comes to Eclipse, and that his favorite scene is the Tent scene. Eclipse was also his favorite book, he seems genuinely excited for the movie!

New Moon Takes in $140.7 Million Opening Weekend

According to Larry Richman of PROnetworks, Summit Entertainment officially announced estimates that New Moon took  in $140.7 million this weekend.  Larry also explains the ‘estimates’ are for Sunday and the official numbers are reported on Monday, but aren’t too different from the estimates.

Summit Entertainment now officially estimates that The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $140.7M from 4024 theaters this weekend. This puts the film in third place for all-time opening weekends, behind The Dark Knight ($158.4M) and Spider-Man 3 ($151.1M) and ahead of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($135.6M). The film also hauled in $118.1M from 25 foreign countries for a worldwide total $258.8M.

In addition to becoming the new champ in midnight box office and single-day totals on Friday, New Moon has now shattered several other records as well. It was the #1 biggest non-summer opening weekend of all time and the biggest ever box office opening for an independent film (and widest indie release in history). New Moon also broke the record for fastest to reach $100M, beating The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3. Of the top 34 films with numbers released today, New Moon took in more than all the 33 others combined.

After its record-shattering $72.7M first day Friday, there was a 41% drop from Friday to Saturday when it took in $43.2M. This was about the exact same percentage decrease Twilighthad one year ago (down 40.8% Saturday, down 41.9% Sunday). Another 40% drop going into Sunday, based on advance sales, tracking polls, and other industry formulas, brings the weekend total to $140.7M with a per theater average of $34,965. Many international regions have yet to release the film. Sources expect New Moon to eventually pass $500M worldwide. Twilight ended its run with $385M.

For those who are new to the box office numbers game, it may seem odd to have these figures when Sunday isn’t even over yet. But it is standard procedure to have weekend totals announced at this time. After the Saturday box office totals come in on Sunday morning, studios always estimate Sunday and come up with a weekend projection. Of course, Sunday and weekend figures can only be estimates at this point. The actual Sunday numbers aren’t known until Monday. But many years and literally thousands of projections have yielded formulas that allow the industry to predict fairly closely what Sunday will be based on Friday and Saturday’s numbers and, therefore, what the weekend will look like. The actual numbers that come in on Monday are usually not too far off from the estimates made on Sunday. They usually adjust slightly up or down but are rarely far off.

Great news!  $258.8 million worldwide!  New Moon hasn’t opened in Germany, Japan or Russia yet!  

So the ‘estimates’ are close to the official numbers that come out on Monday.  I was thinking we were getting closer to the #2 spot for all time opening weekend.  #3 is still amazing.

NEW MOON BREAKS OPENING DAY RECPRD!!!

it’s OFFICIAL! According to the Associated Press, the Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $72.7 million on opening day. 

Vampires and werewolves have vanquished a dark knight. “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” took in $72.7 million in its first day to break the single day domestic box office record previously held by “The Dark Knight,” which had a $67.2 million opening day last year.The Friday haul for the “Twilight” sequel includes a record $26.3 million from midnight screenings alone.

If “New Moon” maintains its pace, it might have a shot at the all-time best opening weekend record of $158.4 million, also held by “The Dark Knight.” This is AMAZING!  That is just for the first day and only in the US and Canada. 

It’s not over people!  New Moon needs to break the opening weekend record.  Move over Batman!

I SAW NEW MOON

        Ok guys I saw the movie it was awesome I cry, laugh got mad and of curse scream like an Idiot but I wasn't the only one, when the movie start the crazy fans were screaming, when Ed and Bella kissed there was screaming when jake took his shirt off ohhhh there WAS SCREAMING when Ed left her u could hear why's and no's and oh yeah... now he can be mine and a lot of crying. My ticket was for 7:35pm and my friends and I were there 4:30pm at 5:00pm we stared making the line we were the firsts one there!!!(THANKS GOODNESS) the line was so big that it came out of the cinema. 

       When the mannager said that we could go in u could see all the people RUNING TO BE THE FIRST ONES TO GET IN but I was really lucky I left my friends behind and I run as fast as I could I went upstairs, got to the last row, took my hat, bag, jaket, scarf and globe off and put them on every seat I could and HEY we got the hole row to ourself isn't that wonderful. I can't belive the end of new moon its really painful and not just because it ends because of what happened

        Jake stoped Edward's car to tell bella and Edward that they couldn't forget the treaty that no Cullen can bite a human so Bella gets really upset and they start arguing they he says "I wont let you be one of them Bella" Edward says "You should listen to him Bella" and blah blah blah u have to see it then Jake gets really mad cause Edward pushes him away he transforms to a werewolf then Bella risk her life to stop the fight Jake(as a werewolf) looks her in the eyes and run away...... and then Edward tells her if u want me to change you, you have to marry me!!! then U see bella's expression then u see the two of them and boom end of the movie isn't that painful?!

Taylor on "The Jay Leno Show"

Access Hollywood is reporting that Taylor Lautner will be bringing a new clip of New Moon with him to show on Jay Leno…

Taylor Lautner will be on “The Jay Leno Show” on Monday night.

Access Hollywood has learned that the “New Moon” star will have a never-before-seen clip from the upcoming film with him, as well.

The scene will also feature co-star Kristen Stewart in her role as Bella Swan – no word if Taylor, as Jacob Black, will have his shirt on or not.

OMG November 20th is so close I can't wait another minute .
